Located in St. John's, Newfoundland, Maderra Engineering Inc. provides project management, project services, engineering, technical and personnel services to the Energy, Resource, and Commercial sectors. In support of our client, we are currently seeking a Project Engineer for a long term contract.

The primary duties of the Project Engineer will include:
• Support the delivery of the +/- 350 kV HVDC submarine cable system and accessories, including manufacturing, supply, testing, jointing, terminating works, fibre optic works, pre-commissioning, as-building, final documentation and system completion
• Support the closeout of manufacturing processes
• Provide input and support the closeout of quality audit, qualification and surveillance processes
• Support schedule development and progress reporting
• Cable system documentation management, including manufacturing record books, inspection and test plans, test reports, as-builts, and other
• Provide onsite company representation and/or oversite of third party inspectors at vendor manufacturing and test facilities, and installation sites as required
• Participate in constructability and operability reviews as required
• Participate in risk workshops and risk management activities as required
• Support the implementation of 'Management of Change' process
• Support the implementation of 'Lessons Learned' from other projects and contracts

• Bachelor's level degree in Engineering or equivalent from a recognized university
• 2-6 years’ successful experience related to the execution of major projects
• Strong quality assurance and quality control experience
• Prior experience or knowledge and understanding of high voltage cable systems, flexible flowlines, or control/power umbilical design
• Prior experience or knowledge and understanding of fiber optic telecoms or fiber optic temperature sensing systems
• Prior experience interfacing with consulting engineering companies and external contractors
• Prior experience with major complex system testing
• Prior experience with industrial product manufacturing processes including Quality systems, ITP's, NCR's, product testing, and manufacturer/vendor performance
• Understanding of engineering processes and management systems
• Experienced with the resolution of technical issues during projects' planning and execution phases
• Safety oriented
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and communicate with other team members
